Burgers are my thing, anyone who knows me will already be fully aware of this fact.  When the people behind Mr Hyde (a daily email site for men) teamed together with TweatUp (a site which organises eating and drinking events with the people of twitter) the first ever National Burger Day was created and oh what a spectacular day it was.

They managed to get 10 of the best burger traders in London all together under one (partial) roof at Dalston Yard.

My burger friends and I headed down around 6:30pm, got our tickets scanned and were given a drinks card which entited you to a free beer and two free shots... always a great start!

We parked ourselves at one of the long tables and thoroughly examined the menu to decide which of the 10 speciality burgers on offer we wanted to try.  I tried to push for all 10 but my friends were having none of it!  All the traders cut your burgers in half on your request which made it super easy for sharing and meant you could try more of what was on offer!

The winner of the day for me was Byron's Le Smokey burger.  A delicious patty with the most incredible smoked chilli bbq sauce, delicious streaky bacon, smoked cheddar and crispy fried onions.

Another burger I have to mention came from Mother Flipper and was none other than the Cronut burger.  For those of you who don't know what a Cronut is, it's a delicious cross between a doughnut and a croissant.  Imagine a mini beef patty inbetween two mini cronuts topped with chocolate sauce and bacon bits.  Sounds questionable, tastes DIVINE.  These were slider sized and were definitely enough, any larger would be too much Cronut for one person to handle!

Deserts came in the form of burger macaroons, you heard me correctly and burger ice cream accompanied with gorgonzola ice cream.  Let's just say i'm not sure any of these will be catching on any time soon!

We had a brilliant evening eating, drinking and making new friends who forced their burger ice cream upon us.  If you're a foodie and you like the sound of this get together follow TweatUp on twitter to be kept in the loop for upcoming events. @Tweat_up
