Photo from The Beauty Department. Start with two coats of a base colour. I used Barry M's Mint Green. Choose two girly shades and use toothpicks to merge the colours. I used OPI lilac from the Shrek collection and Barry M Coral Pink. These are the flowers. Choose a dark green colour, I used Sephora's own and use a toothpick to create small flicks either side of the flowers. These are the leaves. Hey presto! Vintage inspired floral nails.

I'm a huge fan of vintage florals. Whether the pattern be on bedspreads, clothing or wallpaper, floral patterns bring a fabulous feminine edge to anything it adorns. The latest thing? My nails. It's no secret that I use nail art an awful lot. I believe in trying to use any surface you can to get creative and this includes your nails! I saw a picture on twitter of the prettiest most delicate floral patterned nails and followed the link to www.thebeautydepartment.com. This is a great website for all things hair and beauty created by Lauren Conrad (star of The Hills), Hairdresser Kristin Ess and Make Up artist Amy Nadine. I fell in love with the florals and decided to have a go myself.

Coming soon: An outfit post featuring these new delights.

DIY friendship bracelets have been popping up all over the blogosphere with tutorials left right and centre. The ladies at honestlywtf.com posted a super simple tutorial that has left me obsessed. I've been getting finger cramps from making so many bracelets! It's strangely therapeutic and makes me feel like I'm 16 again, especially when my friends ask me to make some for them. Friendship bracelets are a cheap and cheerful way to accessorize your wrists, or in my case if I don't stop, your whole arm!

The ultra cool, ultra slim Karl Lagerfeld for Diet Coke bottles.

A vintage French Vogue cover which I'm looking to have framed for my bedroom.

My nailpolish collection which has had an injection of colour over the past month.

Mini Bonne Maman jam jars being used to hold bits and bobs on my dresser.

An assortment of neon and brightly coloured strings.

Friendship bracelets made from the above strings to create my arm party.

With the month of summer having decided to disappear, much of this week has been spent indoors. This means doing all the things I usually save for a rainy day. Painting my nails, home DIY, reading and making friendship bracelets which is all the rage at the moment. Your wrist is only worthy if it looks like there is a colourful party happening on it!
